Flying or Driving to Murchison Falls: The Comparison

Which one's right depends less on your budget than on what kind of trip you actually want.

Both routes end at the same place. They just get you there through two genuinely different versions of the same trip.

There are two real ways to get here from Entebbe, and which one's "right" depends less on your budget than on what kind of trip you're actually trying to have.

Flying gets a charter plane from Entebbe or Kampala to Pakuba Airstrip, right near the lodge, in about an hour. It's the clear winner on speed, turning what could eat most of a travel day into a short hop, and handing that saved time straight back to you for the park itself instead of the road to it.

Driving covers roughly 320 kilometers from Entebbe, five to six hours depending on conditions, and here's the thing worth actually knowing: it's not dead time you're just enduring to get somewhere better. It's genuinely one of the better introductions to the country you could ask for, roadside shops doing real business, cattle grazing right up to the edge of the tarmac, baboons working the verges in stretches, and a legitimately worthwhile stop at a local fruit market for fresh pineapple, banana, or watermelon, cut and handed to you right there.

Neither choice is objectively correct. If you're tight on time, or Murchison Falls is one stop on a bigger multi-park trip, fly. If you actually want the country to unfold slowly instead of arriving all at once, drive. Both routes end at the same place. They just get you there through two genuinely different versions of the same trip.
