Luxury Safari Tent exterior at The Elephant Oasis — wide thatched roof, timber pole deck with outdoor seating, stone path, Murchison Falls Uganda

Seven safari canvas tents make up the Luxury collection, each holding up to six guests, room enough for a family or a small party without losing what the property is actually built on. The safari camps of that same era weren’t always as spare as legend makes them sound. The well-outfitted ones carried real furniture, real linen, sometimes ice for the evening drink, proof that wilderness and comfort were never as opposed as people assume. The Elephant Oasis carries that same instinct forward, just without the porters. Each tent rises from a foundation of poured concrete, framed in timber seasoned long before it was cut, finished in stone and the hardwoods that grow along this stretch of the Nile. The canvas walls run pale against the color of the bush, catching the first and last light of the day, and inside, the same stone and timber hold the day’s warmth well into the evening. There’s a room apart for sitting and gathering, a small indoor dining area for evenings that call for staying in, a desk for whatever work won’t wait, and a private deck turned toward the evening sun. The furniture, shaped by hand by African Rustic, carries the same grain and weight as the walls around it. Paths of rock lead from each tent back to the rest of the lodge. The bathroom carries the same build in miniature, with more room to move through it: floor and walls in African stone, a single basin set into a vanity of African wood beneath a broad mirror. The shower offers both an overhead fitting and a handheld one on an extendable line, open to the sky above but screened against insects, so the water falls under open air without inviting anything else in. A rack of bamboo and wood, built into the space, holds luggage the way a closet would, shaped for the climate instead of closed against it.
